2011 NOVEMBER -- NEW YORK CITY & LONG ISLAND

We drove down to NY City Thursday AM, Nov. 3rd and met up with Mark King & Owen Derrick in the PM at our hotel. The fellas went to the Ground Zero Memorial, while I stayed at the hotel. I had just broken my foot less than a week before and was in a boot air cast and didn't know if I was up to all that walking. Kent gots lots of pictures, and what a somber memorial that is when you think of all the destruction and loss of life. Very interesting memorial and nicely done! We had dinner at a very good Italian restaurant that eve and walked around Times Square. Amazing place with all the lighted signs and activity going on. People everywhere!

Our hotel and entry. Old but nicely refurbished and makes you think you are in Europe!

Visited the Intrepid Air & Space Museum on Friday. Very very interesting! What a huge aircraft carrier! They had all kinds of planes on display inside as well as up on the flight deck. We got to see the kitchen and dining areas, the various sleeping quarters, and all through the ship. Many interesting and educational films and displays throughout. They also have the CONCORDE there, and we enjoyed going inside that, seeing the cockpit, pilots' signatures on the ceiling with their flight time, etc. Very interesting!

The New York Marathon was on that week-end, and another marathon was running on Saturday besides. Couldn't get a cab to go anywhere, as they kept closing off streets for the runners. So we ended up walking to Central Park to meet up with Clive Anderson for lunch at Sarabeth's -- a really neat and scrumptious place to eat!

After we left Clive, we drove out to Long Island and met up with John & Ester Lynch and Elliott & Linda Chesbrough for the rest of the week-end. Toured around the area and to the beach, etc. and had dinner and the night at Chesbrough's. Spent Sunday night at Lynch's and came home Monday. A very nice long week-end in NY!

2011 HALLOWEEN FUN!

2011 OCTOBER 29 HALLOWEEN SNOWSTORM!

This sure doesn't look like October and Halloween weather! The first three pictures were taken from Brad's back deck. The rest are at our house during the storm. Uhhhhh..... HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :) Old Man Winter sure played a trick on us, but we didn't give him any "treat" for his act or "costume"! Ha!
