FUN WEEK-END WITH THE GRANDKIDS! Oct. 24-26th, 2008

Ellie & Ava came for supper and the night Friday and stayed till after lunch Saturday. We went out to eat with Leighton & Judy Friday night. Saturday AM we made pancakes, and then Grampa and the girls carved out little pumpkins down in the garage. Paxton & Shaelyn came for supper Saturday eve while Brent & Johanna went out to dinner with a college friend of Brent's. Afterwards Shaelyn went home with them, but Paxton stayed the night. He and Grampa carved out a little pumpkin for him to take home. Guess we forgot to take a picture of that.... Sunday PM Kent, Brent, & Paxton took a walk in the woods while Gramma had a nap! It was a nice afternoon for a walk (and a nap too!).

Ava got right into it!
I'm going to save the seeds,
Gramma, and plant them
next year!

MILFORD'S PUMPKIN FESTIVAL -- October 10-12th

This is the 19th year for Milford's Pumpkin Festival, which is a fundraiser project benefitting the town. Kent is on the downtown development committee that oversees the Pumpkin Festival along with other projects throughout the year. All the kids help pick the pumpkins that are sold at the Festival. There are all kinds of activities going on the three days -- pumpkin painting, face painting, pumpkin catapult contests, scarecrow making, haunted trail. talent show, magic show, crafts, cooking contests, etc. LOTS OF FUN! And this year the weather was great!

JOHN & DONNA'S VISIT -- October 1-7, 2008

My sister and husband, Donna & John from Iowa, came for the first week of October to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. The first day John played golf with Brad and Corey while Donna & I did some shopping and then had Brent's and Brad's families and Dad for dinner so Donna & John could see the grandkids and everyone. Friday we went up to the mountains and on up north for the week-end, and the foliage was beautiful. It was cloudy or rainy most of the time, but it still was gorgeous! Stopped by the Mountain View Grand Hotel, hiked the Flume, rode up the Tram at Canon Mt., and went on up to Pittsburg and our Lodge. Had lunch Saturday at the Balsams and then drove in to the camp on Indian Stream and visited Dad and Norma's bunch there. Came back home Sunday PM. Monday we went over to the coast and Portsmouth for the day and back home to see the kids in the evening. So we had a full and busy time, but sure had a great time together!
