2011 SEPTEMBER 26 -- DAD'S DEATH & FUNERAL -- NOV. 1

Dad died peacefully at the Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by all his family on Monday evening, September 26th. His funeral was on Saturday AM, October 1st at the farm in the meeting shed. There were about 900 there. Barry Barkley and Mark King had the service. Angela McMaine and Susan Frank played hymns on the violin and piano before the service. After the service, a lunch was served, and friends and family could mingle in fellowship. The police provided a motorcycle escort to the cemetery, and the 6 grandsons who were pallbearers drove Dad's truck carrying his body. Only family attended the grave side service. While the casket was lowered into the grave, the hymn 339 "Steady and True" was sung by all. A beautiful finish to a faithful life!

2011 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

We had the Chappell Thanksgiving at the farm in the function room in the barn the Saturday before Thanksgiving. There were about 70 of us there! Joan's daughter and family came from LA -- Cheryl & Patrick Jean and Katy Jo. We set up several tables for eating with a long buffet table down the middle of the room for the food, a table across the back of the room for desserts and hot drinks. There was a long table set up for the kids, one for the young folks, and then the adult couples drew numbers for which table we would sit at so we all got mixed around. It was fun! Lots of yummy food and pies. We had leftovers for supper. Mamie brought lots of craft stuff for the kids, so they were busy at that after dinner. Jody and Shelley brought their wicker patio furniture down and set up 3 different sitting areas for visiting, etc. Very homey and and nice. A wonderful day together! We did miss DAD/Grampie! His love hovered
over us, with lots of precious memories of family time together.
