PAXTON'S 5TH BIRTHDAY -- Sept. 27, 2008

Paxton turned 5 years old, and we celebrated his birthday at Roger's barn along with Calista Chappell who turned 6. Brent & Johanna and Duane & Andrea had pizza supper for everyone, and then Calista & Paxton took turns opening their presents. After cake & ice cream, the kids all took turns whacking the pinata till it broke, and they scrambled for all the candy! Grampie had found the last baby afghan that Grammie had made before she died, and he gave it to Dean & Sarah for Natalie. Thanks Roger & Bonnie for sharing the barn for another occasion! It works great when there are so many kids and gives them a place to run as well. A fun evening of birthdays!

APPLE PIES FOR CHAPPELL TRACTOR -- Sept. 24, 2008

After the first Open House at Chappell Tractor two years ago, Dad & Mom baked apples pies for all the employees for a "THANK YOU!" to them for all their hard work putting the Open House together and making it a success. Dad and I decided to do it again this time, so after the tea party at Jody's in the morning we got busy paring & slicing apples for 8 pies! Dad worked on the apples, and I did the crusts and mixed up the apples & spices and filled the pie shells. We baked them and took them to the shop warm and served them with vanilla ice cream. It was a big hit again! Dad and I sure had fun doing it as well.

FALL WORK OUTSIDE

It has been such gorgeous fall weather this week, and I've loved working outside. Today Kent, Brent, & Paxton have worked on cutting down a dead pine tree on our pool bank and hauling it away. Naomi Nicholson is staying with us this week and enjoyed riding in the buggy to haul the trash away. One morning there was a beautiful blue heron in our backyard, and I caught a picture of him by the pond afterwards. I've been busy the last few days pulling up all the summer flowers and planting some mums. Love the fall colors of the mums. I've included a few pictures of them.

CHAPPELL TRACTOR OPEN HOUSE -- Sept. 13, 2008

What a beautiful day, sunny and warm, and a great crowd all day! Kids loved the Bounce House, face painting, and the petting farm. Lots of snow blowers, lawn mowers, and other tools were sold, several tractors & equipment, and LOTS of clothing in Outfitters store! People went around to the different departments with their "passports" and signed up for different prizes. There was free ice cream and Barbeque, drinks, apples, and popcorn. A fun day for all!
