PUZZLE FUN -- March 9-16, 2009

Naomi, Lucille, & Yasmin have been with us all week, and we have enjoyed working on a 1000 piece puzzle of all the state birds and flowers. It has been quite a challenge, and we have gotten quite into it! These last pieces seem to be the hardest! Hope to finish it up tomorrow....

Busily working away....

The magnifying glass helps read those tiny little letters naming the flowers & birds.

Let's see.... Is this the one?

Do you think this goes here?

Kent & I finished up the puzzle Monday evening!

ALOHA FROM MAUI, HAWAII -- March 2009

Warren & Sue Wainwright from CA invited us to join them for a week at Wailea Villa on Maui, HAWAII with his brother and wife, Gene & Dorothy. We flew out on Friday, Feb. 27th and stayed in a hotel next to the villa for two nights before they got there. We just relaxed and mosied around on Saturday getting adjusted to the 5 hour time change. Sunday was special meeting at a retirement community room, and it was wonderful to be with the 4 workers and all the friends for the day, meeting the "Winter Birds" vacationing there along with the local folks. Checked in at the villa before picking up the 4 Wainwrights at the airport that evening. Monday everyone relaxed, enjoyed long walks and working out, sitting by the pool and enjoying the beach. There was a lovely shopping mall right next to the villas, and we ate a scrumptious dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House to celebrate Sue's birthday. Roger & Sue Erickson joined us. Tuesday AM Harold Hilton came for breakfast, and we had a nice chat with him before he headed off to Guam. Then Warren, Gene, and Kent headed off to meet up with Henry Chu and a couple from Australia to get mountain bikes and drive up Hileakala Mt.. Warren, Henry, Evan, & Kent biked down the back side of the volcano while Gene and Evan's wife planned to hike a bit. It was a rugged, steep, and sometimes treacherous 3 hour bike ride, but THEY MADE IT!!! No catastrophes! :) We ladies went shopping! Had a blast and great bargains! That evening we grilled dinner at the villa. Wednesday was more of the same and then meeting at Robert Meyers' and his mother Dee's condo. Afterwards several of us were invited to Penny Hoopai's for pie and coffee. Thursday more relaxing, jogging, working out, looking for the sunshine at the beach (lots of cloudy days with patches of sunshine), and a little more shopping. That evening we were invited to Roger & Sue Erickson's along with Dick & Lynda Eikman from AK for dinner and the evening overlooking the ocean. Had such a great time with all those folks! Friday was a gorgeous day, and we enjoyed the beach and sunshine and ocean to the fullest. Dorothy got the recipe off the internet for Ruth's Chris yummy chopped salad that everyone loves, so she got all the ingredients at the grocery store and we chopped chopped chopped away and made the salad ourselves along with some grilled chicken for our last dinner together. Warren & Sue and Gene & Dorothy were staying until Sunday night, but Kent & I left late Friday night on the Red Eye flight and arrived back in Manchester around 6PM Saturday. Dad and Joan picked us up. We had a wonderful wonderful time!!!
